9 Tips on a Perfect PA Resume

Clinics and hospitals require physicians with such communication skills because patients very often perceive a doctor as good or bad due to their verbal interaction with them. Do not include irrelevant content or any that might mislead the reader.

  • Your physician assistant title right after your name. This is part of the header for the PA resume.
  • Your complete address including your phone number and e-mail. It is essential in case the institute wants to contact you
  • The Physician Assistant school you attended and the date you graduated. Display where you studied and that you have been certified as qualified
  • History of employment in clinics and hospitals. Show where you have already worked and what valuable experience you gained
  • Licenses of all states that where you are registered incl. the registration number and date. This will form part of the legal background concerning your experience and knowledge
  • Membership in medical societies that will reflect well on your specific area of expertise. Show that you are genuinely interested in your profession
  • References to three professional people or institutes. These can be from lecturers, professors or persons that you worked within a clinical environment that can certify to your professional standard and attitude
  • Label the electronic file with your full name and physician assistant title. It will help the recipient locate your file on his system
  • Omit irrelevant, misleading or harmful content. Remember that you want to display yourself in the best possible way, therefore, only include positive and relevant information

Information That Can Be Optionally Included

  • Your grade point average (GPA) but only if it is really outstanding. Your previous work and the obtained references are what most institutes are most interested in anyway
  • A summary PA personal statement if you own unique qualifications that are relevant to the field you apply for
  • Special skills or procedures that you have learned but only if they relate to the specialty you are applying for
  • Recently graduated physician assistants that are still lacking the necessary work history might include the clinical rotation during their schooling

Not to be Included:

Anything that has no relationship to the position of physician assistant and that has not been listed above should never appear in your physician assistant resume or physician assistant cover letter. High school information, non-healthcare, unrelated volunteer work and basic skills should not find their way into a PA resume sample.   • Your basic skills, it is expected that you possess these. Advanced skills, if relevant, should be included in your CV for PA.

  • Objective or summary statements that sound generic, if you cannot formulate something bold or outstanding in your CV for PA, then it is better to leave this field out.
  • The information related to your high school does not belong in your pa curriculum vitae.
